Tonal Collage

Adrian Ivakhiv points out, apropos of my recent post on dance music and bitonality:

Yes, but what do we call it. It's more than bitonal, but less (or much more) than atonal. Polytonal, definitely, but perhaps something else: heterotonal? free tonality? tonal promiscuity? tonally noncommittal? tonal shiftiness? Cool...


Good points. I wonder whether the right term is tonal collage. Each key signature is treated much the same as a sample of an instrument—encapsulated as (dare I say it) an object that can then be juxtaposed with other objects.
